Overview:
Learning Goal: Students will learn about the engineering design process, the three design paradigms (traditional, parametric, and generative design) for approaching the engineering design process, and how these paradigms are related (design evolution).
In this lecture, you will learn about:
- the essential components of a design problem (objectives, variables, and constraints)
- two models of the engineering design process (a 6-step model and a 4-step model) and what each step entails
- the three design paradigms (traditional, parametric, and generative design)
- design evolution
